The seven chapters by five contributors are sage, economical essays on the setting of practice, diagnostic process, the doctor-patient relationship and communication, and anticipatory care. Although this primer is addressed to medical students, it could be readily and easily read with profit by older physicians and clinicians in any field who feel a need to pause for a detached look at the methods and problems that all practices have in common.
