Trauma is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the United States and elsewhere, and the care of patients with trauma has become a subspecialty within the field of critical care medicine. Because sophisticated trauma care, like other aspects of critical care, is a relatively new area of expertise, few comprehensive textbooks exist. The editor of this book has attempted to fill this gap.
