To the editor: The parathyroid cyst or cystic parathyroid adenoma is a rare cause of primary hyperparathyroidism (1-5). We report a case of primary hyperparathyroidism caused by cystic parathyroid adenoma in a patient who developed hypercalcemic crisis after a fine-needle aspiration biopsy of the cyst. This fineneedle aspiration biopsy introduced a new complication, the exacerbation of hypercalcemia.
A 57-year-old man visited us because of weight loss. Physical examination showed a 3.5 X 2.0-cm firm mass in the left lower neck. A fine-needle aspiration biopsy of the neck mass was done using a 22-gauge needle, and approximately 9 mL of colorless,
