Every step in the development of our understanding of the basic mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias obligates us to reassess much of our previous knowledge. Newly described mechanisms, often identified by advances in research technology, open new eras of research. Such a scientific growth area can produce a vast literature in a few years, and usually books with dozens of contributors are required to describe comprehensively such an era. It is therefore remarkable that Drs. Cranefield and Aronson undertook writing such an exhaustive text on triggered activity.
In some ways, this book is a sequel to Dr. Cranefield's previous work, The
