For the general physician, this book is delightful. Its three sections cover cerebrovascular disease, clinical management, and recovery and rehabilitation. The chapter on clinical anatomy of cerebrovascular disorders contains computed tomographic scans and schematic drawings of arteriograms; the readers' acquaintance with the complexity and variety of neurologic abnormalities produced by strokes would have been facilitated by including an illustration of a homunculus. This chapter has only one reference. Figure 2.1 portrays the old idea that 75% to 80% of acute ischemic strokes are caused by atheromas or lipohyalinosis; this material should be brought up to date.
