To the Editor: I read with interest the perspective by Geokas and Branson (1) regarding the recruitment of U.S. college students to medical schools. A soon to be published editorial in the Journal of Occupational Medicine titled, "Filling the Void of Well Trained Occupational Medicine Physicians: A Challenge for the 90's" (2) addresses a similar problem but at the next step, that is, attracting medical students to a career in occupational medicine.
Many of the roadblocks to a career in medicine discussed by Drs. Geokas and Branson are indeed the same as are found by people studying the field of
