To the Editor: The chief medical residents at Franklin Square Hospital Center have been operating a computer bulletin board (BBS) since March 1989. A recent research grant has permitted us to expand the scope of our BBS through the use of an "800" toll-free number. As a resident-run, resident-oriented computer bulletin board, we believe it to be the first in the nation and as such is an important communication device.
