The most difficult challenge in gastroenterology practice may be the mastery of inflammatory bowel disease therapy; the complexities of the disease create a situation in which data derived from clinical trials share equal footing with "clinical experience" in shaping a rational therapeutic approach.
Into this arena the editor and his colleagues have introduced a relatively short (and therefore readable) book on inflammatory bowel disease therapy. For the most part, the book consists of chapters on each of the major drugs and treatments used, as well as chapters on surgical alternatives to ileostomy and the role of psychosocial factors in therapy
