Only about a third of the chapters in this multiauthor text are directly linked to respiratory allergy in clinical practice, the remainder being surveys of immunologic, biochemical, and pharmacologic considerations that serve as background for clinical considerations. The origin of this book as the proceedings of a meeting held in April 1988 appears to account for the rather discontinuous and not entirely systematic treatment of the overall subject.
