To the Editors: Not long after the American College of Physicians (ACP) announced its endorsement of comprehensive health care reform, the National Federation of Housestaff Organizations (NFHO) concluded debate on this issue and emerged with a similar endorsement for an equal-access health care system. Although we did not devise an entire plan, the NFHO decided on 17 general principles for a national health system similar to those put forth by the ACP but with a greater emphasis on the role of health education within a coordinated national health program.
