To the Editors: Recently, a manuscript editor of the Annals of Internal Medicine asked me to compose a "structured abstract" for a review article I wrote. As a courtesy, she referred me to another review extolling the virtues of the form (1). I was surprised to see that this article did not itself contain a structured abstract. Does this mean Annals advocates using this structure only in the abstract?
