A guide for the general public prepared by three experts on the metabolic and emotional bases for obesity and related disorders of eating. It covers thoroughly and realistically the risks of obesity, the risks of particular dietary components, and all of the generally accepted modes of weight reduction and control, including surgery. It should be a useful adjunct to the physician's efforts in guiding patients in weight reduction, but it will probably be thoroughly digestible only by patients with college-level educations.
