A thorough, multiauthored survey by experts of diet components, good nutrition in the stages of life, many special considerations (such as eating disorders, alcohol and tobacco effects, needs of hospitalized persons and of athletes, and allergies), nutrition in diseases, and how to pay attention to nutrition in restaurants, shopping, and food storage and preparation. Although prepared for nonprofessional readers, the detail of this book and its straightforward style could make it attractive to physicians as a practical and not discouragingly academic source of advice to patients.
