As a pastured general internist and nascent ethicist, I read Ethics at the Bedside as one of several case-centered introductions to clinical ethics. Dr. Culver has gathered 12 essays on bedside ethical dilemmas into a thoughtful volume "to be comprehensible to the intelligent lay reader and also of interest to professionals working in the field." The essays encompass enough medical detail to maintain the interest of physicians but not so much as to confuse the lay reader.
