In the last decade, medicine has witnessed an information explosion in the area of molecular biology. The modern-day doctor will quickly attest to the growing partnership between data gathered at the molecular level and effective bedside medicine. Similarly, the modern-day medical student will attest to the increasing classroom hours dedicated to understanding the molecular nature of disease. No discipline has benefited from this information surge more than the field of blood-oriented disease, and no individual is able to translate this phenomenon more than Dr. Jandl.
