An account of the author's life with Hodgkin disease that surfaced when he was 22 years of age, with accounts of the lives of others who had to live with cancer. Goes well beyond the emotional burdens to consider the problems of social stigma, insurability, and discrimination in employment. Physicians not experienced in clinical oncology could profit from this detailed picture of how the patient sees the problems of living with cancer or the threat of its recurrence.
