The science of immunology has been moving so quickly that textbooks may be outdated by the time of publication. Worse, the jargon often used by immunologists may be incomprehensible. The challenge to the authors of this textbook was to clarify concepts that may be difficult to comprehend and then to make that information clinically relevant and useful. They have succeeded to a remarkable extent in both providing comprehensive and current information and presenting this information in an interesting and digestible manner. I think this success is attributable to the fact that the contributors appear to be clinicians first and immunologists
