No other book on asthma provides as much depth on the disease's diverse aspects. Most chapters are up-to-date reviews of the literature. The book is logically presented, starting with a chapter on the epidemiology of asthma, which is followed by chapters on airway reactivity, mechanics of airway narrowing, pathology of airways, components of airways (epithelium, smooth muscle, microcirculation), circulating and resident cells, cell constituents, autonomic nervous system aspects, the arachinoids, and neuropeptides.
