That strong heart
Dances the night away
Across the checkered floor,
A hot stylus marking every step.
But the stageband takes a break,
And someone puts on the Rolling Stones.
Those crazy cordae
Snap their fingers to the beat,
And that goofball, the mitral valve,
Tries to play cymbals.
The left atrium slips into the shadows,
Sips spiked punch,
And flirts with the sinus node.
The dim room glitters with potassium ions
Fluxing with ATP.
The fun, as fragile as tinsel,
Is just beginning when two coronaries
Begin to twist like Chubby Checker.
But the record soon ends.
Everyone sits
