The pancreas was once a hidden organ. Ultrasound, computed tomographic scanning, and endoscopic pancreatography changed all that. The cell biology, pathogenesis, and treatment of pancreatic diseases have seen recent advances which we are eager to learn. New publications on pancreatic diseases are expected to amplify the value of new developments when added to previous knowledge and ancillary discoveries. The stated goal of the authors of this monograph is to provide students and clinicians with a simplified update of new developments in the field.
