Yellow roses on stately stone walls
venerable ivy in venerable crevices
walking by the Thames gives a vista of the town
nearly the same now
so I am told
as known by generations of scholars before
how peaceful are the ducks
how close is God here
in the grass
tiny farmhouses
sunset glowing over a field
No wonder I became so soon fond
How far is God here
from an eight by ten room in the hospital
with a phone and a pager
on one side a laboratory crammed to the rafters
on the other a room
