I read with great interest the recent article by Mullan and colleagues (1). I entered medical school with a resolve to plunge into social justice, join Médecins Sans Frontières after graduating, and travel the globe in an effort to eradicate HIV/AIDS. But something unexpected happened during these past 4 years: I found that I enjoyed studying many areas of medicine.
